Stella is not a quiet painting. She stands tall, loud, self-assured and unapologetic. A little sass, a little style, and entirely her own.

As I painted her, I felt she carried the energy of someone who refuses to shrink: bold, protective, and unwavering. In my mind she became almost regal, a watchful presence with nothing to prove and everything to give.

Her name means “light,” and that feels important to me. Stella was inspired by a heron who visited our neighbour each day when we lived in Stella Gardens in Ringsend during Covid. He would feed her sardines, and she would wait patiently steady, dignified, and certain. Even now, living near the canals, herons are constant companions on my walks. They appear in fog and sunshine, watchful and composed, as if quietly witnessing the rhythm of our lives.

To me, she represents constancy; the people and moments that remain steady through change. She is strength without noise, presence without demand. A reminder that even in shifting seasons, there is always something (or someone) holding light for us.

As with all my pieces, she is accompanied by a poem:

“Through silent waters, steady and true, a watchful presence seeing me through. In fog and sunlight, constant and near, a quiet reminder you were always here.”

Print Details:

  • This is a print of the original acrylic painting on canvas.

  • It comes in two options one with a 3.5cm boarder and one without depending on how you prefer to frame it - see options in the mock ups provided

  • Full paper size including boarder 37.8cm x 48.5cm, image size 32cm x 42.5cm

  • The 3.5cm white border allows for signing and framing with a mount. In the borderless one the print is signed in gold pen on the bottom right corner of the print.

  • Size might vary slightly when printed, please do not order a frame before receiving your print.

  • This is a Limited Edition Print printed on the finest of quality 100% Cotton Rag Paper.

  • The print comes unframed. Images are for mock purposes only. Please measure your space before ordering.

  • Each print is numbered & stamped by edition, and signed by the Artist.

  • Each print comes with a complementary poem on a small postcard that can be framed or kept as a memento and a certificate of authenticity stating its detailing, number of edition in its collection, measurements and signature.

  • Prints are sent rolled in a sturdy print tube ready to be framed.

  • Available Feb- March 2026

  • Limited Print Release. The final edition number will be determined by the number of prints sold during the release window. It could be editions of 5 or editions of 50… who knows!
